The reason the number is not flexible is that the waiting is biological. An implant has to fuse with the bone before it can carry a crown, and that process takes the time it takes. Everything else in the plan can be arranged around your schedule. That part cannot.
Why two trips rather than one
An implant is not a single procedure. It is a sequence with a healing interval in the middle.
- Examination and planning. Imaging, an assessment of bone volume and quality, and a plan that accounts for the neighbouring teeth and the bite.
- Placement. The implant fixture is placed in the bone.
- Integration. The bone grows onto the implant surface. This is the interval that sets the calendar.
- Final restoration. An impression or scan, then the crown is made and fitted.
Steps one and two belong to the first trip. Step four belongs to the second. Step three is the gap between them, and it is generally in the range of three to six months, with the lower jaw usually healing at the shorter end and the upper jaw at the longer end.
Where a bone graft changes things
If there is not enough bone to hold the implant, bone has to be built first. How much that changes the plan depends on how much is needed.

That last row surprises people. If you are having work done in more than one place, the plan follows the site that heals slowest, not the average.
What each trip actually looks like
The first trip is not a single appointment. Expect several days in Korea: the examination and planning, the placement itself, and a check before you fly. Building in a buffer before your departure is sensible rather than cautious.
The second trip is usually shorter, because the work is a scan or impression, the laboratory stage, and fitting. It is still not a same-day errand.

Can it be done in one trip
Sometimes, in selected cases. An implant can be placed and a temporary crown fitted at the same visit where the bone quality is good and the implant is stable enough at placement. This is a judgement made from your scan and at the moment of surgery, not a package that can be promised in advance. The final crown still follows later.
If someone offers a single-trip plan before seeing your imaging, that is a reason to ask more questions rather than fewer.
What to settle before you book flights
- Send imaging ahead if you have it. A recent scan from your own dentist lets the clinic give you a realistic trip count before you commit to dates.
- Give your travel dates first. A plan built around your calendar is different from a plan you are asked to fit yourself into afterwards.
- Ask what happens if healing runs long. It sometimes does. Knowing the fallback in advance is better than improvising it from another country.
- Ask for your records in portable form. Whatever the plan, you should leave with imaging and surgical details you can hand to a dentist anywhere.
